Love in Vain
I have been exploring this theme off and on in my work for years. The idea of love and love lost, moving on as a metaphor for music and vice versa. Each one of my pieces tells a unique story from my experiences on the road. This particular piece is about my relationship with early blues and the tangle of the Chicago music scene and what it later meant to Rock and Roll. The artwork is created with a combination of ink and loose graphite with spot colors in acrylic. . I created this piece on a collage of topographical maps of Chicago and sheet music from Aristocrat and Chess Records.
This is a giant of a piece. It consists of 3 panels that are 60'' tall x 36'' wide. The entire hanging size is 5'x over 9
